Divvy (“Divvy,” “we,” “us,” or “our”) operates the Divvy web application at joindivvy.app and the guides site at guides.joindivvy.app (together, the “Service”). This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and the choices you have. By using the Service, you agree to this policy.

Divvy is operated by Roy Toone, an individual sole proprietor, reachable at divvy@joindivvy.app.

Who can use Divvy

Divvy is intended for users 13 years of age or older (16 or older where required by local law). The Service is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them. If you believe a child under 13 has given us information, contact us at divvy@joindivvy.app and we will delete it.

Information we collect

Account information. You sign in with Google or Apple. From that sign-in we receive your email address and basic profile information. We do not receive or store your Google or Apple password.

Your display name. When you first sign in, you type a first name. This display name (not your Google/Apple account name) is what other members of your shared spaces see. You can edit it anytime in settings.

Content you create. The spaces you create or join, the items you add (shared and personal), claims, proposals, votes, comments, and any optional notes, links, or photos you attach to a proposal.

Automatically collected information. Standard technical data such as device/browser type, approximate location inferred from IP, and basic usage and analytics data, used to operate and improve the Service.

We do not collect payment card information — Divvy is free at this time.

How we use your information

We use your information to provide the core Service (let you create spaces, coordinate items with roommates, and sync in real time across devices), to authenticate you, to communicate with you about the Service, to maintain security and prevent abuse, and to improve Divvy.

How information is shared within the Service

Divvy is built around a personal-vs-shared split, and this is enforced at the database layer, not just hidden in the interface:

  • Personal items are private to you. Only you can read or write your personal items.
  • Shared items are visible to the other members of that space. Your display name appears next to items you claim or propose.

We do not sell your personal information.

Service providers and third parties

We use the following third parties to operate the Service. Each handles your data under its own privacy terms:

  • Google and Apple — for sign-in (authentication).
  • Lovable / Supabase — application hosting and backend database, authentication, and real-time sync (Divvy’s data is stored here).
  • WordPress.com (Automattic) — hosts the guides site at guides.joindivvy.app.
  • Affiliate networks (Amazon Associates, Skimlinks/Sovrn) — see “Affiliate links and cookies” below.

Affiliate links and cookies

Our guides site contains affiliate links. When you click an affiliate link, the merchant or affiliate network (such as Amazon or Skimlinks) may set a cookie that lets them attribute a resulting purchase to us, which may earn us a commission at no extra cost to you. These cookies are controlled by those third parties under their own privacy policies. You can manage or block cookies through your browser settings. See our affiliate disclosure on the guides site for more.

Your choices and rights

You can edit your display name and your content in the app at any time. You can delete items, leave spaces, and (if you own a space) delete the space, which removes its associated data. You may request access to or deletion of your account and associated personal information by contacting us at divvy@joindivvy.app. Depending on where you live, you may have additional rights under laws such as the GDPR (EU/UK) or CCPA/CPRA (California); contact us to exercise them.

Data retention

We keep your information for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide the Service. When you delete your account or a space, we delete the associated data, except where we are required to retain it for legal or security reasons.

Security

We use reasonable technical and organizational measures, including database-level access controls (row-level security), to protect your information. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

International users

Divvy is operated in the United States. If you use the Service from outside the U.S., your information will be processed in the U.S. and other countries where our providers operate.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. We will post the new version here and update the “Last updated” date. Material changes will be communicated through the Service where appropriate.
